                      Conflict Vs. Bullying
  • A conflict is a disagreement that happens when people want different things.  The people involved in a conflict have equal power to solve the problem.  They are not purposely trying to hurt each other.

  • Bullying is unfair and one-sided.  It happens when someone keeps hurting, frightening, threatening, or leaving someone out on purpose.              

How is Bullying  Different From Normal Peer Conflict Behavior??

Normal Conflict/Mean Behavior

Equal Power or are friends
Happens Occasionally
Accidental
Not serious
Equal emotional reaction
Not seeking power
Remorse, both parties will take responsibility


Bullying


Imbalance of power
Repeated negative actions 
Intentional 
Physical or emotional harm
Unequal emotional reaction
Seeking control/ material things
Bully has no remorse, will blame target
